Dr Jennifer Habel

Postdoctoral Researcher

Overview

Dr Jennifer Habel is a postdoctoral researcher in the Kedzierska laboratory. She completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne (2024) where she investigated antiviral immunity in pregnant women. Her research is focused on cytotoxic lymphocytes (NK cells and T cells) and their roles in fighting viral infections. Her current research utilises cutting edge cellular and molecular techniques like single-cell RNA sequencing to understand antiviral immunity in pregnant women and young children. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she discovered the first known SARS-CoV-2 CD8+ T cell epitope (2020 PNAS) and identified how immunity to SARS-CoV-2 differs during pregnancy (2023 JCI Insight).
