Dr Almeida is a team leader in the Godfrey laboratory at the Doherty Institute and sole chief investigator on NHMRC-funded research ($1M) on “unconventional” T cells, with major focus on NKT cells. She is also the meeting coordinator for the Immunology Theme Meeting Seminar Series (since 2018) at the Doherty Institute and key member of the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Science Early Career Researchers Network (co-chair in 2018). Dr Almeida has a great passion for science outreach, including acting as the co-chair for the Day of Immunology Public Lecture (since 2024), science translation and policy change. She often collaborates with the teaching department, including the supervision of Honours students, third year research project students, Msc and PhD students.
