Dr Adrian Marcato

Epidemiological Research Fellow

Overview

Adrian Marcato is an infectious diseases epidemiologist with a particular interest in respiratory diseases and pandemic preparedness. Adrian completed his PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne, where he led the implementation of the first national and multi-jurisdictional household transmission study of COVID-19 in Australia. Adrian has significantly contributed to the development of global influenza and pan-respiratory virus investigation protocols as part of the World Health Organization’s Unity studies platform, and currently coordinates a local program of work adapting these protocols to context, including consideration of optimal study design, data collection, specimen sampling and statistical analysis.
