Dr Vijaya Madhavi is as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the HIV Vaccine Research laboratory of Professor Stephen Kent in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She obtained her PhD degree in 2015 in the field of HIV immunology from the University of Melbourne. She initially completed Bachelors in Microbiology and then Masters in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Hyderabad in India.
Vijaya has published experience in the field of HIV immunology. Her current research focuses on understanding the role of anti-HIV antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) immunity in aiding safe and effective HIV vaccine design as well as HIV cure research. She was awarded the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF) to collaborate with HIV immunologists at the National AIDS Research Institute in Pune, India on HIV vaccine research studies.
