Dr Jennifer Juno obtained her PhD in 2014 at the University of Manitoba in Canada, where she studied immune dysfunction during chronic HIV infection. She then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Public Health Agency of Canada, examining the impact of TB infection on unconventional T cell subsets. She joined the lab of Dr. Stephen Kent in 2016 to study unconventional T cell immunology in macaque models of HIV infection. She has also developed an interest in understanding Tfh cell responses during influenza infection and vaccination.

Key Achievements
-
Jennifer has been awarded a number of fellowships during her PhD and post-doctoral positions, including a NHMRC Early Career Fellowship in 2016. She has received both internal and external (NHMRC) funding to study unconventional T cell and Tfh responses in SIV and TB infection. She has published a number of peer-reviewed publications, including recent papers in JCI and JI.

Kent Group
Stephen’s group studies immunity to HIV, influenza and SARS-CoV-2. They are analysing a variety of vaccine strategies, including nanoparticle-based vaccines. They are studying a series of immune responses to gain better insights into protective immunity to important viral pathogens. They are developing monoclonal antibody therapies for HIV, influenza and SARS-CoV-2 to improve the treatment of these infections. The Kent group works very closely with Dr Amy Chung’s laboratory at the Doherty Institute.
