Lessons learnt from COVID: Guiding pandemic preparedness and response

On Tuesday, 1 March, the Australian Institute for Infectious Disease (AIID) and the Australian-French Association for Research and Innovation (AFRAN) held a joint symposium showcasing French and Australian research and co-operation on infectious diseases with a global impact.

Keynote speakers included Nobel Laureates Professors Françoise Barre-Sinoussi and Peter Doherty, along with the Director of the Doherty Institute, Professor Sharon Lewin, and Director and CEO of the Burnet Institute, Professor Brendan Crabb.

The session provided an unprecedented opportunity to hear from top infectious disease specialists from France and Australia who discussed research and shared experiences from past and present pandemics to guide future responses.
