Doherty Institute staff, collaborators and friends awarded Queen’s Birthday Honours
The Doherty Institute congratulates the staff, collaborators and friends of the Institute who received Queen's Birthday Honours.
Melbourne Health CEO Professor Christine Kilpatrick, a member of the Doherty Institute Council, has been recognised for her service to the medical community with the title of Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).
Professor Kilpatrick was granted the medal for distinguished service to medicine through senior administrative roles, to the promotion of quality in health care, and to neurology.
Director of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at Austin Health, Professor Lindsay Grayson was also recognised for his significant contribution to medicine. He was appointed a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his service to medicine in the field of infectious disease.
The Austin Health’s Infectious Diseases Department joined the Doherty Institute early this year, as the first unit of the Institute located externally.
In additino, several of our collaborators and supporters received honours, including Professor Alan Cowman, Laboratory Head at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, For eminent service to the biological sciences, notably to molecular parasitology, to medical research and scientific education, and as a mentor; Dr Margeurite Evans-Galea, Senior Research Officer at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute for significant service to women in STEMM as an advocate and role model; and Mr Lionel Gell, for significant service to the community through philanthropy.
