You never forget the flu. It can hit quickly and last for a few weeks, meaning time off work or school and staying away from family and friends. For vulnerable Victorians, like children, the elderly and people with a chronic condition or weakened immune system, the flu can have serious and devastating outcomes.

At this symposium hosted by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and the Doherty Institute, you will hear from flu experts including Dr Angie Bone, Victorian Acting Chief Health Officer; Professor Kanta Subbarao, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza at the Doherty Institute; and Professor Lorena Brown an influenza virologist at the Doherty Institute.

They will provide insight into what we know about this year’s flu season so far, the importance of vaccination and why you need to get it annually, and how far away we are from a one-shot, universal vaccine.

Please arrive at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm sharp start.
