Hosted by Michael Rowland, this Q&A event will see our experts return to tackle your questions about the Australian COVID-19 vaccine program

At this livestream event, our expert panel return to tackle more of your questions about the Australian COVID-19 vaccine program.

How effective are the vaccines against variants? When should we be getting booster shots? Why do the recommended intervals between doses keep changing? Should employers look at mandating their employees to get vaccinated? When will it be safe to vaccinate children?

So much has changed in the six months since our first event in March, with the vaccine rollout in Australia well underway and the nation no longer striving for COVID-zero. Now with the race to reach an 80 per cent double dose vaccination rate steaming ahead and Australia close to opening up again, the noise around the topic of vaccines seems louder than ever. It's understandable many people are feeling overwhelmed.

The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity has been at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic response – clinicians treating patients in hospitals; scientists continuing to perform tests on suspected cases and viral genomic sequencing; epidemiologists working closely with the State and Commonwealth Governments on policy; and researchers working on antibody tests, treatments and a vaccine.

At this Q&A event hosted by the ABC’s Michael Rowland, a panel of experts will answer your burning questions around the COVID-19 vaccines. Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Paul Guerra will deliver introductory and closing remarks.
