Dr Asolina Braun initially studied biology and then pursued a doctoral degree at Hannover Medical School in Germany under the supervision of Professor Reinhold Förster and Dr Tim Worbs. Here, Asolina co-developed a microsurgical procedure of intralymphatic injection and used multi-photon microscopy to study chemokine-driven migration of dendritic cells and T cells. Her post-doctoral studies with professors Thomas Gebhardt and Francis Carbone focused on how cytokines enable the retention and differentiation of tissue-resident memory T cells in extra-lymphoid tissues. Currently, Asolina is the lab manager at the Fabienne Mackay laboratory and studies B cell biology.

  • Key Achievements
    • Asolina has obtained her doctoral degree with summa cum laude after establishing a combination of a new microsurgical technique used with multiphoton microscopy to visualise the migration of immune cells. Her studies have been recognised by academic prizes (Arnold Spiegel PhD prize, HIRSIB PhD prize) and scholarships (German Excellence Initiative, PhD fellowship of the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds, postdoctoral fellowship of the German Research Foundation). In each of her positions she has authored key immunological papers. Asolina also engages in public relations as a member of the Day of Immunology Committee.
