Host-pathogen Interactions

Host-pathogen Interactions

A pathogen is any infectious agent – for example, bacteria or a parasite – that causes disease in its host. The ability to survive and interact with its host’s immune system can make the pathogen difficult to diagnose and treat. The Doherty Institute focuses on the research, diagnosis and treatment of a range of host-pathogen related diseases, with a particular focus on malaria, enteric infections and tuberculosis.
