Registrations are now open for the Victorian Tuberculosis Program's (VTB) World TB Day Seminar 2016

In 2014, tuberculosis (TB) affected 9.6 million lives around the world, 1.5 million of these lives were lost, making TB the leading infectious cause of death globally.

Community-based TB programs worldwide work to end TB; striving for zero deaths, disease and suffering. This is an ambitious goal and to achieve it these programs need your help. If you are a health care worker  get educated, get active and make a difference. 

This year's event will feature presentations from:

  • Associate Professor Justin Denholm - Chair, TB Forum and Medical Director, Victorian Tuberculosis Program, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Doherty Institute
  • Professor Brendan Crabb - Director and CEO, Burnet Institute
  • Dr Janet Fyfe - Senior Scientist, Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratoy, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Doherty Institute
  • Associate Professor Tim Stinear - Laboratory Head, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Melbourne, Doherty Institute
  • Ann-Maree Baker - Clinical Nurse Consultant, Victorian Tuberculosis Program, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Doherty Institute
  • Ee Laine Tay - Epidemiologist, Department of Health and Human Services 
  • Dr Suman Majumdar - Infectious Diseases Physician, Burnet Institute
  • Jo Chandler - Advocate and journalist
  • Aine Nolan -  Clinical Nurse Consultant, Victorian Tuberculosis Program, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Doherty Institute

A panel discussion will follow the presentations, moderated by Krista Watts, Senior Social Worker for the Victorian Tuberculosis Program at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Doherty Institute.
